Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Salkantay Pampa – Soyroccocha

Machu Picchu 360 starts the Salkantay Trek, Peru to Machu Picchu with a morning drive from Cusco to Mollepata. This takes about 3 hours.

After breakfast, we’ll hike to Soraypampa, our first campsite, over 4 hours. Here, you’ll witness the stunning Humantay Lake, spending around 1 hour to enjoy the views. The day ends with dinner at the campsite.

Day 2Soyroccocha – Apacheta Pass – Rayanniyoc – Colpapampa

The trek continues early to the highest point, the Salkantay Pass, at 4,630 meters (15,190 feets). It’s a challenging 4-hour hike. After the pass, we descend to Huayracmachay for lunch, then continue 3 more hours to our camp at Chaullay. You’ll experience breathtaking views of the Andean landscape.

Day 3Colpapampa – the Hot Springs (Cocalmayo) – Lucmabamba

Day three begins with a 6-hour trek through the jungle to La Playa. The path is full of flora, fauna, and coffee plantations. 

After lunch at La Playa, a short bus ride takes us to Santa Teresa. You can opt to soak in the hot springs. We camp here for the night.

Day 4Lucmabamba – Puncuyoc Pass – Llactapata Inca ruins – Aguas Calientes

The day starts with a 3-hour hike to the Hydroelectric station, followed by lunch. Then, a 3-hour walk along the railway tracks leads to Aguas Calientes. This town is the gateway to Machu Picchu. We´ll spend the night in a hostel, preparing for the final day’s visit to the ancient city.

Day 5Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We’ll rise early for a bus ride to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of this iconic Inca site. After the tour, you’ll have time to explore at your pace.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes. From there, you’ll catch the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus to Cusco. This marks the end of your unforgettable Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu with Machu Picchu 360.
